If you are looking for a good place to eat breakfast, K's is the place. Hand's down the best in the Wilmington area. "Voted Best Breakfast in Town by WWAY Newschannel 3"and they got it right, The food is not only good but it is reasonably priced, maybe even cheap. If you go there you will not be going any where else. Service? TOPS. SO what are you waiting on? Try it and let me know what you think. I'll be surprised if I see any complaints, even small ones.

What a pleasant surprise. Excellent food and may be the best service in southeast North Carolina. This little gem is located in the strip mall beside the convenient store  at the intersection of Kerr and Castle Hayne Road. Prices are average and portions are what your would expect in this area, probably need a doggie bag. The fried oysters are perfect. Most places over cook the seafood, not here, it is just like mama and the old time seafood restaurants would cook your food. They are cooking for the locals, not the visitor or new comers that don't know any better. Just can't say enough good about them.

Will I be back, all ready have, and will again next week.

Not just another fast food joint.If you are looking for a Burrito,Taco, Quesadilla, nachos or salad you might want to try this if you are in a hurry. No it isn't authentic Mexican but a good American imitation if that is what you want. Not quite as Mexican as Taco Bell but better service and you can have it your way. Not a person in the whole place the day I went in that could speak Spanish and from what I was told the owner isn't a Latino ether. So why bother if you want real authentic Mexican? DON'T! But if you just want some good American imitation and good service, TRY THEM.

UNCLE VINNY'S

UNCLE VINNY'S at Carolina Beach

Uncle Vinny's is just what we needed at Carolina Beach, A really good Italian Restaurant. Yes there is Frank's and the pizza is the greatest there and there is Mama something or other (went twice and will not be back) and then there is Uncle Vinnie's the pasta is the very best in the area. One hint, if you don't like HOT, don't order the spicy sauce. It is good but it is HOT. The only complaint I have is the wait staff. I have been 5 times since it opened and have only had one waitress that knew what they were doing. The other 4 had to be the first day they had ever waited on a customer.

Will I go again? You bet I will even with the chance of getting a waiter that should be doing anything other than waiting tables.


You ask how about Freddie's at Kure Beach? They have a better wait staff but more crowded. Food maybe a half step behind or a toss up.

This has to be absolutely the best Thai food around.They go the extra mile to make sure that you are happy with both food and service and I don't think you will find better service anywhere in this area. We came in one night with a group of 14 at closing and they did their best to make us feel at home and welcome. No short cuts in service or food. No working around us trying to get ready to close. All their attention was on serving us and making sure we were happy with our food. I have been there 5 times now at different time and it is always the same PERFECT service and food.


If I still used the 1 to 10 rating this would be a 12

Shucker Oyster Bar and Grill

Shuckers Oyster Bar and Grill is in the same location that once was The Naked Kingfish and is a definite improvement. The service is excellent and the staff go out of there way to make it a meal worth having. Prices are equal to other eaters of it's class and you get good portions. The oysters were a little dryer than I like and on the small side, BUT this is the off season and they are gulf coast oysters which tend to be smaller and less salty than the North Carolina variety.  We also had fish and chips which were better than I have had anywhere else in the Wilmington area and where cheaper than most.

Now what would I suggest to improve Shuckers? Keep the staff they have! The oysters steamed a little less. Bring them out covered in a hot damp cloth, helps hold the heat in.  For the locals make sure you have some home made hot pepper vinegar on hand and the best quality butter you can find to melt. Other than this keep everything the same. 

We will be back for another happy dinning experience.

San Jose Mexican Restaurant

San Jose Mexican Restaurant 3027 Roberts Ave. Lumberton, NC

Not bad but have had better. I would say they are about average as Mexican  Restaurants go. The service was very good but nothing exceptional. Clean? yes no complaints on that, it was very clean. Now getting to the food, it was served fast, but unless you added salt it was so bland that it would run a close second to cardboard. I'm not talking about it not being spicy, which it wasn't, it just didn't have any taste.... Maybe it was an off night. I will not recommend them but being the restaurant was full I'll give them another try in the future, just in case it was a fluke.
